Start your first day in Munnar by visiting the Mattupetty Dam. Located in the hills of Munnar, this dam offers stunning views of the surrounding tea plantations, the Shola forests, and the valleys. You can enjoy boating and take in the tranquilizing view while the cool breeze embraces you. Then proceed to Tea Museum to learn about the history and evolution of tea plantations in Munnar. You will also have a chance to taste different tea flavors.
To kick off your day two in Munnar, visit Eravikulam National Park. It is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and several species of flora and fauna. Take a guided trek (during certain months) to the peak of the park where you can see the spectacular view of the valley below. Then head to Blossom Park, which is the ideal picnic spot for families. With exotic flowers, butterflies and lush greenery around, it presents a serene and soothing experience for all visitors.
If you have more time, visit the Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, located inside the Eravikulam National Park. The peak offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys. If you have less time, skip the Tea Museum, and visit the Kundala Dam, which is another beautiful spot with an enjoyable boating experience. Don't forget to carry sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes.
