Ooty Botanical Gardens is a beautifully landscaped garden that houses a variety of rare and unique plants and trees. The garden features a wide range of temperate and tropical plants along with a fossilized tree trunk estimated to be over 20 million years old. Our next stop for the day will be the serene Ooty Lake, where you can enjoy boating, fishing, or simply take a stroll around the lake admiring its natural beauty.
Doddabetta Peak is the highest mountain peak in the Nilgiris and offers unparalleled views of Ooty and its surroundings. It also houses a telescope house where you can observe the gorgeous views. Our next and final stop for the day is the Government Museum, where you can learn about the rich history of the Nilgiris and view a range of tribal artifacts and historical relics.
If you have more time in Ooty, you can add visits to places like the Thread Garden, St. Stephens Church, and Pykara Waterfalls. If you have less time, you can skip the Government Museum and visit the nearby Rose Garden, which is home to a stunning collection of roses and other flowers. Do note that August to May is the ideal time to visit Ooty as the weather is pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities.
