Start your journey in Coorg with a visit to Abbey Falls, one of the most popular tourist spots in Coorg. It is a mesmerizing waterfall forming a pool at its foot amidst coffee plantations and spice estate. You can hear the gushing water before you can see it and feel the mist from its flow. You can take a refreshing bath in the adjoining pool. Don't forget to try the locally grown coffee and spices at the nearby stalls.
Get up close and personal with gentle giants of the jungle at the Dubare Elephant Camp. It is a rehabilitation center for the rescued elephants from the nearby jungles, and an opportunity to interact with, bathe, and feed them. You have to walk to the camp for 30 minutes through the lush green forest, crossing the river on a coracle boat. If you're lucky, you might even get a chance to witness the mahouts bathing and doing daily chores with the elephants.
Explore the source of the Kaveri river at the Talakaveri amidst the stunning view of the surrounding hills, lush green valley, and dense forest. It's a serene spot where you can meditate and find your inner peace. You can hike up to the Brahmagiri Peak for an amazing view of the Western Ghats. Later, visit the Bhagamandala temple that houses a confluence of three rivers - Kaveri, Sujyoti, and Kanike, where one can take a dip in the holy water.
If you have more time, you can include other places such as Raja's Seat, Nisargadhama, and Tadiandamol peak. If you have less time, you can skip Dubare and Talakaveri and instead visit Mandalpatti for an exhilarating jeep drive or Coorg Wildlife Society for animal spotting. Don't forget to pack comfortable shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat as the weather can get unpredictable in the mountains.
