Embark on a thrilling 2-hour Jeep Safari ride in the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, one of the four wildlife sanctuaries in Wayanad. Home to a variety of wildlife like tigers, leopards, elephants, deer and monkeys, the sanctuary also offers a stunning backdrop of lush green forest and clear streams.
Start early because we're going on a challenging trek up to the highest peak in Wayanad, the Chembra Peak. The approximately 4-hour trek takes you through the misty forests, grasslands and rugged terrains before reaching a heart-shaped lake that's simply picturesque! Carry enough water and snacks and wear comfortable footwear.
End your trip on a serene note with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam. The second-largest earth dam in Asia offers breathtaking views of the dam and the lush green hills around it. You can also take a boat ride in the lake formed by the dam, go on a trek to the nearby hills and explore the Banasura hills, a bio-diverse area rich in flora and fauna.
If you have an extra day, visit the Eddakal Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts prehistoric cave paintings and stone age carvings. For a relaxed day, spend time at the Soochippara Waterfalls where you can take a dip in the refreshing water pools or go on a nature walk. If you have less time, skip the Banasura Sagar Dam and spend more time at the other two places. Always carry water, snacks, and wear comfortable shoes.
