Mesmerizing Munnar - A 2-Day Nature Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam and Tea Museum
    20 minutes (6 km) from Munnar town

    Start the day by visiting the Mattupetty Dam, located 1700 meters above sea level. The journey to the dam is scenic as you pass through tea plantations, forests and grasslands. One can experience boating or horse riding at the dam. After the dam, head towards the Tea Museum where you can learn about the history of the tea estates and the process of tea production. Taste various tea flavors and buy some to take back home.

  2. Day 1: Echo Point and Kundala Lake

    Next, head over to the Echo Point where you can shout out your name and hear back the echo. The viewpoint offers splendid views of the misty mountains and serene waterfalls. From there, proceed to the Kundala Lake, located at an altitude of 1700 meters. Rent a pedal boat to explore the scenic surroundings or take a walk amongst the cherry blossoms and pine trees.

  3. Day 2: Anamudi Peak and Eravikulam National Park
    25 minutes (13 km) from Munnar town

    Start early to visit the Anamudi Peak, which is the highest peak in South India, standing at 2695 meters. Trek to the top and take in the mesmerizing views of the Western Ghats. After the trek, head towards the Eravikulam National Park that is home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Trek through the park and spot various other animals like gaur, sambar and lion-tailed macaque.

  4. Day 2: Lakkam Waterfalls
    40 minutes (20 km) from Eravikulam National Park

    Your final stop of the trip is the serene Lakkam Waterfalls, located amidst the dense forest. Take a short trek to reach the falls, and spend some time listening to the sound of the roaring water. You can also take a dip in the natural pool below the falls.
