Start your Coorg vacation by checking into one of the luxurious and serene resorts like the Orange County or Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa. Spend the day relaxing by the pool, getting a spa treatment or sipping on a hot cup of coffee while admiring the surrounding green hills.
After a hearty breakfast, head to the lush green coffee and tea plantations like the Chelavara Falls Tea Estate where you can learn about tea processing and enjoy a nice cuppa. A 15-minute drive away is the Abbey Falls located amidst picturesque coffee plantations where you can hear the roar of the waterfall from a distance and go for a refreshing dip.
Embark on a safari excursion at the Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary where you can spot elephants, tigers, and leopards in their natural habitat. The sanctuary is also home to several species of birds and butterflies. Afterward, visit the Nalknad Palace that dates back to the 18th century and was once a hunting lodge of Kodagu kings.
End your Coorg adventure by trekking to the Tadiandamol Peak which is the highest mountain peak in Coorg. It’s a moderately difficult hike that covers a distance of 8-10 km depending on the route, but the stunning view of the surrounding hills and valleys from the top is worth it. Afterward, head back to your resort and collect your belongings before heading to Coorg International Airport.
If you have more time, you can add some other popular attractions like Bylakuppe Monastery, Dubare Elephant Camp, and Madikeri Fort. For a shorter trip, you can skip some of the activities on Day 3 and spend more time at the resort or Abbey Falls. Also, the best time to visit Coorg is from October to March when the weather is pleasant and the rainfall is low.
