A 5-Day Nature-Filled Itinerary in Kashmir

  1. Day 1: Sonamarg
    From Srinagar, it takes around 3 hours (80 km) to reach Sonamarg.

    Known as "The Meadow of Gold," Sonamarg is a scenic location with picturesque streams and natural views. Visit the Thajiwas glacier and take a horse ride to the nearby lakes. If you're up for an adventure, trek to the high altitude Krishnasar Lake. Spend your evening at the riverside and enjoy a bonfire.

  2. Day 2: Pahalgam
    From Sonamarg, it takes around 5 hours (138 km) to reach Pahalgam.

    Pahalgam is a stunning valley filled with pine trees and enormous mountains around. You can enjoy water activities like river rafting, trout fishery, and kayaking. Visit the Betaab Valley, where a few Bollywood movies have been shot over the years. Explore the picturesque Aru Valley and Chandanwari, situated at the confluence of the Lidder River and Sheshnag Lake.

  3. Day 3: Gulmarg
    From Pahalgam, it takes around 6 hours (152 km) to reach Gulmarg.

    Famous for its ski resorts, Gulmarg is a year-round destination with breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, meadows, and hills. Try some skiing or snowboarding or take the Gondola ride to Kongdoori Mountain. If you are not into skiing, take a leisure horse ride to the picturesque Strawberry Valley and try famous Kashmiri cuisines in local restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Doodhpathri
    From Gulmarg, it takes around 2 hours (42 km) to reach Doodhpathri.

    A popular day trip from Srinagar, Doodpathri is known for its lush green meadows, clear water streams, and a peaceful atmosphere. Explore the local villages and their exquisite cultures. Try pony rides or take a hike to the nearby ridge. Enjoy a picnic alongside the stream.

  5. Day 5: Mughal Gardens and Dal Lake
    From Doodhpathri, it takes around 2 hours (47 km) to reach Srinagar.

    Visit the famous Mughal Gardens, Shalimar Bagh, and Nishat Bagh of Srinagar, also known as the "Crown of Kashmir." Take a shikara ride on the famous Dal Lake, visit the floating markets and gardens. Engross in the stunning sunset view with the Himalayan ranges in the backdrop.
