The Meenakshi Amman Temple is devoted to Goddess Meenakshi, considered the embodiment of the Goddess Parvati. The temple is made up of 14 architectural gopurams or entrance towers with intricate designs that will leave you awestruck. The inside of the temple is huge, and you can almost get lost in the many shrines, halls, and pillars. You can also visit the temple’s museum that displays artifacts of the Pandya and Nayak periods. Don't forget to taste the famous prasadams (sweet offerings) at the temple.
Isha Yoga Centre is an oasis of calm, perfect for a rejuvenating ‘family yoga session'. This center is dedicated to offering yoga as a tool for long-lasting peace and wellbeing. You can explore the yoga hall, meditate in silence in a dome called Dhyanalinga, or learn Isha Kriya, a powerful yogic practice. The center has a peaceful park, a small snack shop, and a large photo-friendly koi pond.
Eravikulam National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, filled with scenic beauty, flora, and fauna. Take the fun-filled jeep safari to witness the popular Nilgiri Tahr and other exotic species of animals. Visit the Tea Museum in the vicinity of the park to understand the history and processes of tea cultivation and production in the region. Known for its lush green hills, rolling grasslands, and Shola forests, the view from the top at Eravikulam National Park provides a breathtaking visual treat of nature.
If you have more time, you can visit the Mattupetty Dam and Lake, a popular picnic spot, or the Anamudi Peak, which is the highest peak in South India. If you have less time, you can skip the Isha Yoga Centre and go straight to Munnar. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes/clothes and carry adequate snacks and water for the trip.
