Vaishno Devi Temple is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess, Vaishno Devi. The temple is located on top of the Trikuta Mountains and can be reached after a trek of around 13 kilometers from Katra. It is visited by millions of devotees every year. The trek entails walking along a paved path or horseback riding. Helicopter services are also available. The trek through the mountains offers scenic beauty and breathtaking views of the valley below. At the temple, visitors can take part in Aarti and offer prayers. The temple is open from 5 AM to 12 PM and from 4 PM to 9 PM.
Bhimgarh Fort is a historical monument built during the 18th century. The fort is perched on a hill and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area. The fort has an underground tunnel, which was used by the soldiers during the time of war. The fort also has a lush garden and a few ancient temples. The fort is open from 10 AM to 6 PM.
If you have more time, you can visit the Ardhkuwari Temple or the Baba Dhansar Temple. Both temples are situated close to Katra and offer a peaceful environment. If you have less time, skip the Bhimgarh Fort and visit the Katra market instead. The market offers a wide range of products such as souvenirs, handicrafts, and dry fruits. Do not forget to try the local delicacies, mainly street food such as golgappas, chaat, and samosas.
