Next, visit the Lakkam Waterfalls where you can watch the water cascading down from a height of around 50 feet. Surrounded by lush green forests, this spot is perfect for nature lovers or a relaxing picnic. There are also small shops nearby selling local snacks and souvenirs.
End your first day with a visit to the highest tea estate in the world. The Kolukkumalai Tea Estate is located at an altitude of approximately 8000 ft above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Take a guided tour of the tea factory and learn about the tea-making process. You can also purchase a variety of teas to take home with you.
Start your second day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. You can take a guided tour of the park in a small bus and enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. Don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for other wildlife such as sambar deer and Indian bison.
Next, head to the Kundala Lake for some boating or to simply relax by the water. This serene lake is surrounded by rolling hills and is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike. You can also visit the nearby Kundala Dam and take in the views from the top.
End your trip with a visit to the Top Station viewpoint, located at an altitude of around 1700 meters. Take in the panoramic views of the Western Ghats and the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. You can also take a walk to the nearby Echo Point and listen to your voice echo in the valley below.
If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Echo Point or the Mattupetty Dam. If you have less time, skip the Kundala Lake and Boating.
