Tadiandamol Peak is the highest mountain in Coorg, with an elevation of 1,748 metres. The trek to the peak is challenging, but the stunning views from the top make the effort worthwhile. As you climb, you will see lush forests, streams and waterfalls. The final stretch of the trek involves a steep ascent, which will test your endurance, but the panoramic view of the hills from the peak is breathtaking. The trek takes around 4-5 hours to complete, and you should start early in the morning. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip, carry plenty of water and snacks, and be prepared for changing weather conditions, as it can get cold and windy at the summit.
Coorg is home to numerous rivers and streams, and white water rafting is a popular adventure activity here. You can go rafting in the Barapole river, which has rapids ranging from grade 2 to grade 4. The 2-hour rafting session takes you through dense forests, rocky outcrops and thrilling rapids. The experienced guides will brief you on safety instructions and provide you with the necessary gear like helmets and life jackets. You do not need any prior experience, but you should be comfortable in the water and be able to swim. The best time to go rafting is during the monsoon season when the river is at its full flow.
If you have more time, you can explore other trekking trails in Coorg, such as Brahmagiri, Pushpagiri, and Kumara Parvatha. You can also visit the Namdroling Monastery, Dubare Elephant Camp and Abbey Falls for a more relaxed experience. If you have less time, you can skip the rafting and do a shorter trek to the nearby Chelavara Falls or Nishani Motte.
