Start your day by visiting the Eravikulam National Park. This is where you can catch a glimpse of the endangered and adorable Nilgiri Tahr. The park opens at 8:00 AM and closes at 4:00 PM. From there, continue to Mattupetty Dam, a popular picnic spot that offers stunning views of the lake and mountains. You can take a speedboat ride here, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The last boat usually departs at 4:30 PM. Other activities include horse riding and visiting the dairy farm. End your day by heading over to Tea Museum, which showcases tea processing methods followed by the region's history and culture. The museum closes at 5:00 PM.
On the second day, take a trip to Ramakal Medu, a scenic hill station known for its panoramic views and the famous Kuravan and Kurathi statues. It's a short trek to the top, and you may also want to visit the Wind Farm and the Pine Forest while you're there. Next, head to Top Station, a breathtaking viewpoint located at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level. You can see the Western Ghats range from here, and the best time to visit is in the early morning or late afternoon. End your day by visiting the Muniyara Dolmens, which are centuries-old megalithic burial structures.
If you have more time, you can consider visiting other attractions in Munnar like Echo Point, Attukal Falls and Devikulam Lake on day one. For day two, you can also visit the Mattupetty Indo-Swiss Farm and the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate. If you have less time, you can pick either day one or day two and still have a great experience. Keep in mind that the tea museum and Eravikulam National Park are closed during monsoons, generally June to August in this region, so plan accordingly.
