3-Day Varkala Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Varkala Beach

    Varkala Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Kerala, and for a good reason. The beach is renowned for its red laterite cliffs, clean sand, and clear water.   2. Day 2: Sivagiri Mutt & Janardanaswamy Temple
    20 minutes (6 km) from Varkala Beach

    Located atop the Sivagiri hill, the Sivagiri Mutt is the mausoleum of Sree Narayana Guru, a saint, and social reformer. The Mutt hosts an annual pilgrimage in December that attracts thousands of people. The Janardanaswamy Temple is a 2000-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is located near the beach. Make sure to catch the evening Aarti ceremony which is a beautiful sight to witness.

  3. Day 3: Varkala Cliff & Anjengo Fort
    15 minutes (4.5 km) from Sivagiri Mutt

    The Varkala Cliff offers breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and is dotted with restaurants, cafes, and shops. You can spend your morning exploring the cliff and enjoying the ocean breeze. The historical Anjengo Fort is a 17th-century fort built by the British East India Company overlooking the sea. The fort has a small cemetery with tombs of soldiers and civilians dating back to the British era.
