Start your volunteering journey at the Social Teahouse, a local non-profit organization aimed at empowering women through education and entrepreneurship. Spend the day helping out the local women with packaging, marketing, and selling their handmade tea products. You can also participate in their educational programs and learn more about the tea-making process. The Social Teahouse is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays.
Get involved in elephant conservation efforts at the Elephant Junction. Here, you can help bathe and feed the elephants and learn about their daily lives. You can also take a guided elephant safari through the lush greenery of Munnar, observing the beautiful flora and fauna. The Elephant Junction is open from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
If you have more time, you can explore other local non-profits aimed at conservation efforts, like the Wildlife SOS Elephant Care Project or the Srishti Welfare Centre. Alternatively, you can spend time at the Eravikulam National Park, a beautiful nature reserve with scenic hiking trails and stunning waterfalls. If you have less time, you can skip the Elephant Junction and instead spend more time volunteering at the Social Teahouse.
