Kanyakumari Beach, also known as Sanguthurai Beach, is a beautiful beach that offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise and sunset. One can also witness the confluence of three major water bodies, namely the Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean, and Bay of Bengal, from this beach. The beach is surrounded by multiple food and souvenir stalls where you can relish local cuisines and buy souvenirs to take back home.
Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a sacred monument that is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda, who meditated on the rock for two days in 1892. The memorial comprises two main structures, the Vivekananda Mandapam and the Shripada Mandapam. Visitors can take a ferry ride to reach the rock and explore the museum that displays different artifacts associated with Swami Vivekananda and his teachings.
The Thiruvalluvar Statue is the tallest statue in Asia built in honor of the renowned Tamil poet and philosopher Thiruvalluvar. It stands at a height of 133 feet and has 10 levels, each level representing the 10 'Kural' (couplets) of Thirukkural. Visitors can climb up to the pedestal level of the statue, which offers a panoramic view of Kanyakumari. It is recommended to visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and heat.
If you have more time, you can also consider visiting the Gandhi Memorial Mandapam, Suchindram Temple, and Padmanabhapuram Palace. If you have less time, it is recommended to skip the Thiruvalluvar Statue or the Kanyakumari beach. Also, make sure to carry sufficient cash as many places do not accept cards.
