The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world, named after the Sultan who oversaw its construction. Non-Muslim visitors are welcome between 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Saturday-Thursday.
The Royal Opera House Muscat is a premier venue that caters to opera, ballet, and classical music performances. The venue is renowned for its Omani architecture and is open for tours daily from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, except on Fridays.
The Bait Al Zubair Museum is a private museum owned by the Zubair family who are prominent in business and political affairs. The museum houses numerous collections of traditional Omani artefacts, jewellery, costumes, weaponry, and more. It is open from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM from Sunday to Thursday.
The Muttrah Souq is one of the oldest markets in Oman and located in the old city of Muscat. The souq is a labyrinthine market where tourists can barter and buy items such as jewellery, spices, perfumes, clothes, Omani daggers, and much more. The market opens at 9:00 AM and closes at 1:00 PM, then reopens from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, every day.
The Al Alam Palace is the ceremonial palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos and is located in the heart of Old Muscat. Visitors can view the exterior of the palace and click pictures.
If you have more time, take a trip to the Qantab Beach or the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace. For a short 4-hour trip, you may skip the Royal Opera House Muscat and instead visit the nearby Oman Museum. Alternatively, if you have less time, you can exclude Al Alam Palace from the itinerary.
