Ooty Lake is a serene lake surrounded by Eucalyptus trees and lush greenery. Visitors can enjoy leisure boating, paddle boating and have a picnic on the charming lakefront. Horse riding on the banks of the lake is also a fun activity. The lake is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in south India with stunning panoramic views of the Nilgiri hills. The peak is at an elevation of 2,623 meters and is home to many exotic birds and animals. The observation tower offers viewpoints accessible through a telescope and is a great place to spend a few hours wandering and enjoying the nature. The peak is open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Government Botanical Garden is one of the best botanical gardens in India and is spread over 55 acres of land. The garden has a collection of over 650 species of plants and trees, the highlight of which is a fossil tree that is over 20 million years old. Visitors can also enjoy a flower show and a bonsai show held in the summer season. The garden is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
If you have more time, you could add a visit to Pykara Lake or the tribal Toda huts. For those having less time, they can skip Doddabetta Peak and head to other places of interest in Ooty like the Rose Garden or Thread Garden.
