Start your nature trip by visiting the Eravikulam National Park, known for its diverse flora and fauna, including endangered species such as the Nilgiri Tahr. Take a guided trek to Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India. Experience the mesmerizing view of the Western Ghats and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls and streams. Enjoy bird watching and spot rare species including the Nilgiri Flycatcher, the Black-and-Orange Flycatcher and the White Bellied Shortwing. The park is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM every day except February to April when it is closed.
Head over to the Pothamedu Viewpoint to enjoy a panoramic view of the sprawling tea gardens and the beautiful valley. Located at an altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level, this vantage point offers breathtaking rejuvenation of the mind and senses. Also, take a short trek through the tea plantations and savour the taste of local tea served at small refreshment stalls. The viewpoint is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and has no closing days.
If you have more time, visit the Mattupetty Dam located 25 minutes (11 km) from Munnar town. It is open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and offers boating activities and a splendid view of the dam and the grasslands surrounding it. Visit the Tea Museum on the same day and learn the process of tea-making from scratch. Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and has a ticket fee of 150 INR/2 USD per person.
If you have less time, visit the Echo Point which is only 15 minutes (5 km) from Munnar town. It is open from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM and offers a thrilling experience of your voice reverberating across the surrounding hills.
