Kalhatti Falls is one of the most serene waterfalls in Ooty, hidden away in a remote corner of the Western Ghats. The waterfall cascades down from a height of over 400 feet, surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors can trek to the top of the waterfall for an incredible view, or take a dip in the natural pools below. The trek to the waterfall takes approximately 2 hours and is a test of endurance, but the breathtaking view is well worth it. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season when the waterfall is at its most spectacular.
Mudumalai National Park is a vast wildlife sanctuary located at the foothills of the Nilgiris. The park is home to a wide variety of animals, including tigers, elephants, leopards, and several species of deer. Visitors can book a jeep safari to explore the park or take a guided tour of the elephant camp. The park also offers trekking options, including a trek to the highest peak in the Nilgiris, Doddabetta.
If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Ooty Lake or take a tour of the tea factories. For those with less time, you can skip the Kalhatti Falls trek and book a day tour of Mudumalai National Park.
