Ooty Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Botanical Gardens
    15 minutes (2.5 miles) from Ooty Lake

    The Botanical Gardens is a vast garden of around 55 acres with a variety of trees, plants, and flowers. This place is a paradise for nature lovers and a must-visit place in Ooty. The garden has different sections, such as a fern house, Italian garden, and a bonsai section. It also has a greenhouse for exotic flora.

  2. Day 1: Doddabetta Peak
    15 minutes(4.6 miles) from Botanical Gardens

    Next up is the Doddabetta Peak, which is the highest peak in the Nilgiri hills. The view from the peak is breathtaking, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys, tea plantations, and dense forest. The peak also houses a Telescope House where you get to see a closer view of the surroundings.

  3. Day 2: Ooty Lake
    15 minutes (2.5 miles) from Rose Garden

    On day two, we will visit the much talked about Ooty Lake. The lake is peaceful and serene, and one can choose from various boating options, such as rowing, paddle boat, motorboat, etc. There is also a minitrain ride around the lake, which gives a good view of the lake surroundings.

  4. Day 2: Rose Garden
    15 mins (3.1 miles) from Ooty Lake

    Rose Garden is a picturesque garden located in the heart of Ooty, dedicated entirely to roses. Situated on the slopes of the Elk Hill, this garden has more than 20 thousand varieties of roses. In addition to roses, the garden has other flowers like marigold, dahlia, and hibiscus.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, you can visit the following places:
Pykara Waterfalls, which is around 12 km from the city center. The waterfall surrounded by dense forest and is best visited from June to January.
Sims Park, located in Coonoor. This place has a collection of different trees and plants from all over the world, making it an ideal picnic spot.
If you have less time, you can skip the Boat ride at Ooty Lake and instead hire a bicycle to explore the area around the lake.
