5-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Coorg in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Talacauvery
    1 hour 30 minutes (45.3 km) from Coorg

    Visit the source of the river Kaveri, nestled in the hills at an altitude of 1276 m. Explore the Bhagamandala temple, which marks the confluence of the three sacred rivers, Cauvery, Kannike and Sujyoti. Take a dip in the holy waters at Triveni sangama, and relish the local dishes at the nearby restaurants.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    40 minutes (17.6 km) from Talacauvery

    Interact with the majestic elephants. Get a unique chance to wash, feed and ride elephants in their natural habitat. Trek through the jungle, spot birds and click beautiful pictures. Learn about elephant history and ecology from the trained naturalists. Book your tickets in advance to avoid rush and be there in the morning before 10 am.

  3. Day 3: Abbey Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (24.9 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp

    Trek through the coffee and cardamom plantations to reach this picturesque waterfall, cascading down from a height of 70 feet. Experience the misty spray and the lush greenery surrounding the falls. Take a jungle safari, zip line and go rafting if you want more adventure. Good place for picnic and photo op.

  4. Day 4: Raja's Seat
    1 hour 10 minutes (31.7 km) from Abbey Falls

    Behold the mesmerizing sunset from the royal seat of the kings of Coorg. Enjoy the toy train ride, musical fountain show and the panoramic view of the hills, gardens and valley. Ideal place for family and kids, it is open until 8 pm and can get crowded in the evenings.

  5. Day 5: Buddhist Monastery and Golden Temple
    2 hours (55.7 km) from Raja's Seat

    Take a detour to Bylakuppe, the second largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet. Visit the Namdroling monastery, also called Golden temple, with its mesmerizing gold-adorned walls. Catch a glimpse of the monks in prayer, spin the prayer wheels, buy souvenirs and of course, enjoy the Tibetan cuisine. Get an early start as it tends to get crowded.
