Begin your adventure by heading to the stunning La Fortuna Waterfall located at the base of Arenal Volcano. This natural wonder is a perfect place to start your trip with a refreshing swim beneath the cascading waterfall. Be sure to pack water shoes as the hike to the waterfall is rocky and steep.
Spend the day exploring Arenal Volcano National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can hike the trails to see the stunning Arenal Volcano up close and personal, observe the unique wildlife of the area, and relax in the natural hot springs that are heated by the volcano. Choose from a variety of hikes, ranging in difficulty from easy walks to strenuous full-day treks.
On your final day, venture to Manuel Antonio National Park, known for its beautiful beaches and diverse wildlife. Hike the trails through the lush rainforest to spot howler monkeys, sloths, and various bird species along the way. Once you reach the beaches, take a dip in the ocean or relax on the white sand. Make sure to pack plenty of water as the trails can get hot and humid.
For those with extra time, consider adding a zipline tour or white water rafting in La Fortuna. A coffee tour or visit to the Monteverde cloud forest can be added to Day 2. If you have less time, consider trimming your itinerary to two days, focusing on visiting either Arenal or Manuel Antonio National Park, depending on your interests.
