Doddabetta Peak, the highest vantage point in the Nilgiris stands majestically at 2,623 metres and offers panoramic views of the valley below. On a clear day, one can also see the flat highlands of Mysore and Coimbatore. The drive to the top of the peak is breathtaking, as it winds through lush tea plantations and provides the perfect picture opportunity. Doddabetta Peak also has a small telescope house that offers views of the distant plains. Visitors can take a walk in the small forest reserved located at the base of the peak.
Ooty Lake, nestled amidst majestic eucalyptus trees, is an excellent place to spend a day with family. Boating in serene waters of Ooty Lake is a fun-filled activity as you soak in stunning views of the lush green Nilgiris. Horseback riding is also available around the lake. A small amusement park located nearby is an added attraction for kids. The lake is encircled by emerald gardens featuring vibrant flower beds and towering trees. The tranquillity and scenic beauty of the lake make it a must-visit destination in Ooty.
For a longer stay, consider visiting the Raj Bhavan, the Government Botanical Garden, and the Avalanche Lake. If you have less than two days, consider visiting the Bharath Tea Factory, Lamb's Rock, and the Pykara Waterfall. Avoid travelling during the monsoon season as landslides can occur. Carry rain gear during summers as the weather is unpredictable in the hills. Also, please be mindful of the environment and avoid littering at all costs.
