Darjeeling: A 3-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Tiger Hill
    20 minutes (6.2 miles) from Darjeeling town

    Wake up early and head to Tiger Hill to experience the stunning sunrise in Darjeeling. Located at an altitude of 8,500 feet, Tiger Hill offers a panoramic view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. On a clear day, you can also see the majestic Mt. Everest in the distance. After the sunrise, explore the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, located nearby, and take a guided trek through the forest to see the diverse flora and fauna of the region.

  2. Day 2: Darjeeling Himalayan Railway
    10 minutes (2.6 miles) from Tiger Hill

    No trip to Darjeeling is complete without a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the "Toy Train". This UNESCO World Heritage site takes you on a scenic ride through the hills and valleys of Darjeeling, passing through tea plantations and quaint villages. The train journey lasts about 4 hours, so make sure to pack some snacks and enjoy the ride. After the train ride, visit the Peace Pagoda, a stunning Buddhist temple that offers a spectacular view of the Darjeeling town.

  3. Day 3: Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park
    15 minutes (5.1 miles) from Darjeeling town

    On your final day in Darjeeling, visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, which is home to several endangered species, including the snow leopard, red panda, and Himalayan salamander. The zoo is also known for its successful breeding program for the endangered red panda. After the zoo, visit the Rock Garden, a beautiful garden created using rocks and boulders from the surrounding hills.
