Transportation

Rome has a well-designed public transport system that includes buses and metro trains, which are an affordable option for visitors. The price of a single ticket is 1.50€ and is valid for 75 minutes. There are also taxis available in the city, but they cost more. In addition, most locations including hotels and shops and restaurants are walkable because they are situated in smaller areas. We suggest planning ahead and getting an all-inclusive 7-day public transport ticket which will cost 24€, because of its reasonable price and its openness in movement times.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, make sure to visit the Spanish Steps and Villa Borghese, or take a day trip to Tivoli, Naples or Pompeii. If you have less time, we recommend shortening day-trips to Ostia Antica or go for a shorter tour of the Vatican Museum. We recommend visiting the main attractions in the morning or in the late afternoon to avoid long lines and crowded spaces. Additionally, make sure to take a good pair of walking shoes and keep any daytime and nighttime precautions in mind since Rome remains a big city.
