    Spend the day exploring Milan's hippest neighborhoods while admiring the boats that navigate the canals in the lively Navigli district. In the afternoon, visit Leonardo da Vinci's Vineyard (Vigna di Leonardo), which he acquired in 1498 under the patronage of Ludovico il Moro. Here, you'll find a small museum that explores the history of wine and winemaking with exhibits focused on the legacy of Leonardo.

  • Day 5: La Scala and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

    End your trip with visits to Milan's iconic La Scala Opera House and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping arcade. La Scala is a historic theater which opened in 1778 and has hosted some of operas' most famous musicians. Meanwhile, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest and most beautiful shopping arcades, with luxury shops and cafes making it a delightful stop before finishing the trip.

Transportation:

Milan has an extensive public transportation system that includes buses, trams, and a subway network. Purchase a MilanoCard that provides access to public transport and many museums, discounts for tours and shopping, and more. Purchase a 24-hrs or 48-hrs pass depending on your needs. Taxi and car rental services are also available, but these are much more expensive and not really necessary for this itinerary.

Useful Tips:

If you have more time, consider scheduling a day trip to Lake Como or Bergamo. If you have less time, shorten your visit to museums or avoid some of Milan's districts. Take time to explore other gems Milan has to offer such as the Biblioteca Ambrosiana library, Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden, and the Piazza Mercato antiques market.

Airports:

Travelers arriving in Milan come to one of three airports, namely Malpensa (MXP), Linate (LIN), and Orio al Serio (BGY). Malpensa is Milan's main international airport, located at a distance of approximately 45 km (28 mi) northwest from Milan city center. Linate, located just 8 km (5 mi) from the city center, mainly caters to domestic and short-haul international flights. Meanwhile, Orio al Serio is the third airport serving Milan, which is situated at a distance of approximately 50 km (31 mi) from Milan and primarily serves low-cost airlines. Buses, trains, taxis, and car rentals are available for transfers to the city center from all three airports.
