Begin your trip to Ooty at the Government Botanical Garden, which has over 650 species of plants and trees, including a fossilized tree estimated to be over 20 million years old. This garden is a beautiful and serene place to relax and take a stroll. Don't miss the Italian-style garden, where the flowerbeds are arranged in patterns. If you're lucky, you might even spot some rare birds and insects.
Ooty Lake is an artificial lake surrounded by lush green hills. It's an ideal place for boating, with paddle boats, row boats, and motor boats available for rent. You can also try your hand at fishing or horse riding. The lake is especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset, when the changing colors of the sky reflect on the water.
Climb to the highest peak in the Nilgiri Mountains, Doddabetta Peak, for a panoramic view of Ooty and the surrounding hills. You can drive almost all the way to the top, but the last few hundred meters are best covered on foot. There's a telescope available at the top for a closer look at the scenery. You'll also find a small snack bar and souvenir shop.
