Kedarnath Family-Friendly 7-day Itinerary for June 2023

1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

   Visit one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in India, the Kedarnath Temple. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located amidst the snow-capped Himalayan Mountains.

2. Day 2: Gandhi Sarovar
   4 hours 30 minutes (18.6 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

   Take a trek to Gandhi Sarovar, a picturesque glacial lake named after Mahatma Gandhi. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan range and the Mandakini river.

3. Day 3: Vasuki Tal
   5 hours 20 minutes (10.5 miles) from Gandhi Sarovar

   Embark on a trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake located at the base of Vasuki Parbat. The trek is challenging but the views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers are breathtaking.

4. Day 4: Bhairavnath Temple
   3 hours 30 minutes (9.8 miles) from Vasuki Tal

   Visit the Bhairavnath Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Bhairav located at an altitude of 3,415 metres. The temple offers panoramic views of the Kedarnath valley.

5. Day 5: Sonprayag
   2 hours 30 minutes (8.6 miles) from Bhairavnath Temple

   Spend a leisurely day exploring Sonprayag, a scenic town located at the confluence of the Mandakini and Basuki rivers. Take a dip in the natural hot springs or simply enjoy the stunning views.

6. Day 6: Triyuginarayan Temple
   1 hour 30 minutes (4.3 miles) from Sonprayag

   Visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Legend has it that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married at this spot and a perpetual flame burns here.

7. Day 7: Chorabari Tal
   2 hours 40 minutes (7.7 miles) from Triyuginarayan Temple

   Take a trek to Chorabari Tal, a high altitude lake located at the base of Kedarnath Peak. The trek is challenging but the views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers are worth it.
