Ooty 2-Day Itinerary - May 2023

  1. Day 1: Government Rose Garden
    10 minutes (4.5 km) from Ooty Bus Station

    The Government Rose Garden is the largest rose garden in India. It has a collection of more than 20,000 varieties of roses, including miniature roses, hybrid tea roses, and floribunda roses. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and photographers. The garden is spread over an area of 10 acres and has different sections for different varieties of roses.

  2. Day 1: Ooty Lake
    20 minutes (4.2 km) from Government Rose Garden

    Ooty Lake is an artificial lake built by John Sullivan in 1824. It is surrounded by eucalyptus trees and is an ideal place for boating. The lake has a paddleboat, rowboat, and motorboat ride options. There is also a deer park and a children’s park near the lake. The view of the lake during sunset is a must-see.

  3. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    25 minutes (10.5 km) from Ooty Lake

    Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in the Nilgiri Mountains, with an elevation of 2,637 meters. The peak offers a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys, mountains, and tea gardens. There is also a telescope house on the peak, which provides a closer view of the surrounding areas. The best time to visit is early morning.

  4. Day 2: Tea Factory and Museum
    15 minutes (5.2 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    The tea factory and museum give insights into the history and production of tea. You can see the different stages of tea processing, from plucking the tea leaves to packing the tea powder. There is also a tea tasting session where you can taste different varieties of tea. The tea factory and museum are closed on Mondays.
