Ooty in May 2023: A 3-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Doddabetta Peak

    Doddabetta Peak is the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains, standing at an altitude of 8,650 feet. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Mysore plateau and the Coimbatore plains. There is a telescope house on the peak that allows visitors to get a closer look at the scenery.     The Ooty Botanical Gardens is spread over 55 acres and is home to around a thousand species of plants, including several rare and endangered ones. It was established in 1847 and is divided into several sections, such as the lower garden, fern house, Italian garden, and the conservatory. The highlight of the garden is the fossil tree, which is estimated to be around 20 million years old. It is a great place to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

  3. Day 3: Pykara Lake and Waterfalls

    Pykara Lake is a serene and tranquil lake surrounded by hills and forests. It is a popular spot for boating and fishing. There is also a small island in the middle of the lake that can be reached by a boat. Pykara Waterfalls is a short distance away from the lake and is a must-visit. The waterfalls cascade down several meters and create a beautiful misty effect. There are several tea stalls and souvenir shops near the lake and the waterfalls.
