Ooty in May 2023: A 4-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Doddabetta Peak

    Start your trip to Ooty with a visit to Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. Take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys.   2. Day 2: Ooty Botanical Gardens

    Take a stroll through the Ooty Botanical Gardens, which is spread over 55 acres and has over 650 species of plants and trees. Some of the highlights include the fossil tree, a monkey puzzle tree, and a paperbark tree. You'll also see a variety of beautiful flowers and shrubs. There's a nominal entry fee to visit, so make sure to carry cash.

  3. Day 3: Pykara Lake and Waterfalls
    30 minutes (22.5 km) from Ooty Botanical Gardens

    Visit the stunning Pykara Lake and Waterfalls, situated amid lush green forests. You can take a boat ride on the lake or go for a walk on the surrounding trails. The falls are a popular picnic spot, so bring along some snacks. Make sure to carry insect repellent and wear comfortable shoes as you may need to walk around.

  4. Day 4: Avalanche Lake
    1 hour (25 km) from Pykara Lake and Waterfalls

    End your trip with a visit to Avalanche Lake, a serene and picturesque spot that is relatively unexplored. You can go for a trek through the surrounding forests or simply relax by the lake and enjoy the view. It's a great spot for birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Be sure to carry a jacket and some snacks as there are no shops around.
