Ooty: A 3-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Botanical Gardens
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Ooty Lake

    Take a stroll through the stunning Botanical Gardens, home to a variety of flora and fauna. Established in 1847, the gardens feature over a thousand species of plants, including rare trees and shrubs. Be sure to check out the fossilized tree trunk, which dates back over 20 million years. There is also a charming miniature train that takes visitors around the gardens.
    Note: Closed on Tuesdays.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    24 minutes (10.5 km) from Botanical Gardens

    Enjoy a breathtaking view of Ooty from the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. Doddabetta Peak stands at an elevation of 2,637 metres and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. There is a telescope house at the summit that provides a closer look at the scenery. It can be quite chilly up there, so be sure to bring a jacket!
    Note: Open from 7am to 6pm.

  3. Day 3: Ooty Lake
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Spend a relaxing afternoon at Ooty Lake, a man-made lake that was built in 1824. Take a boat ride or a paddleboat out on the water and enjoy the serenity. There are also horse rides and a small amusement park nearby for those seeking more adventure.
    Note: Open from 9am to 6pm.
