Visit Tsomgo Lake, also known as Changu Lake, a glacial lake located at an altitude of 12,400 feet. Enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains while taking a yak ride. Note that the lake remains frozen during the winter months, but should be accessible in March.
Take a drive to Nathula Pass, the border between India and China, located at an altitude of 14,140 feet. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas and the view of the Indo-China trade route. Note that a permit is required to visit Nathula Pass and it remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Visit Rumtek Monastery, the largest monastery in Sikkim and a center of the Kagyu lineage of Buddhism. Explore the traditional architecture and beautiful gardens. Note that visitors are required to remove their shoes before entering the monastery and photography is not allowed inside.
Take a scenic drive to Pelling, a picturesque town located in the district of West Sikkim. Visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim, and enjoy stunning views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range. Note that the roads can be bumpy and winding.
Visit Namchi, a town located in the district of South Sikkim. Explore the Namchi Monastery and the iconic 135 feet tall statue of Guru Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche. Enjoy the scenic views of the mountains and the Teesta River. Note that the statue is illuminated at night.
