Start your Wayanad adventure by trekking up the iconic Chembra Peak. At 6,900 feet above sea level, this is the tallest peak in Wayanad. The trek takes approximately 3-4 hours, and the final stretch to the top is quite steep. However, the stunning views of the surrounding hills and the heart-shaped lake at the top make the effort worthwhile. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek, and wear comfortable shoes and sunscreen.
Head over to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. This dam is built across the Karamanathodu River, and is surrounded by scenic hills and forests. You can go on a speedboat ride or paddleboat ride on the dam's reservoir, which is also a birdwatcher's paradise. There is also a small park near the dam where you can have a picnic or grab a bite to eat.
