4-Day Itinerary for Coorg in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    20 minutes (7.5 km) from Madikeri

    Abbey Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the midst of lush coffee plantations. The waterfall cascades down from a height of about 70 feet and is surrounded by thick foliage of trees and bushes. The best time to visit is during the monsoon season when the waterfall is in full flow. Visitors can take a short trek through the plantations and enjoy the scenic beauty of the falls. However, swimming in the waterfall is prohibited due to the strong undercurrents.

  2. Day 2: Talacauvery
    1 hour 15 minutes (41.7 km) from Abbey Falls

    Talacauvery is the birthplace of the river Cauvery and is located on the slopes of Brahmagiri Hill. It is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus who believe that taking a dip in the holy waters of Talacauvery will cleanse their sins. The temple here is dedicated to Goddess Cauvery and is a beautiful example of South Indian architecture. Visitors can also enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills from here.

  3. Day 3: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 20 minutes (45.2 km) from Talacauvery

    Dubare Elephant Camp is a must-visit destination for nature and animal lovers. The camp is located on the banks of the river Cauvery and is home to a large herd of elephants. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as feeding the elephants, taking an elephant ride, and watching the elephants being bathed in the river. The camp also offers a nature walk through the surrounding forests and a coracle ride on the river.

  4. Day 4: Namdroling Monastery
    1 hour 30 minutes (48.8 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp

    Namdroling Monastery is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in India and is located in Bylakuppe. The monastery is home to over 5000 monks and is a beautiful example of Tibetan architecture. Visitors can witness the daily prayers and rituals carried out by the monks and also explore the various prayer halls and temple complexes. The monastery also has a small market selling traditional Tibetan handicrafts.
