Two-day Itinerary for Puducherry in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Auroville

    Auroville is a unique experimental township founded in 1968. Designed as a universal town where people from all over the world could live in peace and harmony, Auroville is home to numerous innovative architectural marvels. Matrimandir, a giant golden sphere, is the town's most famous landmark. Visit the Visitors Centre to learn about Auroville's history, philosophy and activities. Take a walk around the town's lush greenery and enjoy an organic lunch at one of the many cafes in Auroville.

  2. Day 1: Promenade Beach
    20 minutes (6.3 km) from Auroville

    One of the most famous beaches in Puducherry, Promenade Beach is a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach, enjoy the sea breeze and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. You can also rent a bicycle and ride along the beachside promenade. Visit the Mahatma Gandhi statue and the French War Memorial located on the promenade.

  3. Day 1: Seaside Promenade
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Promenade Beach

    Located in the heart of Puducherry, Seaside Promenade is a 1.5-kilometer-long walkway along the Bay of Bengal. This popular tourist destination is frequented by joggers, walkers, and tourists. Take a stroll along the promenade and soak in the breathtaking views of the sea. You can also enjoy a game of beach volleyball or visit the nearby cafes and restaurants.

  4. Day 2: Arikamedu
    20 minutes (7.5 km) from Puducherry City Centre

    Arikamedu is an archaeological site that dates back to the 2nd century BC. This site was once a major port for the Roman trade with the ancient Pandya Kingdom. The excavation site has several ancient artifacts such as Roman pottery, glassware, and beads. Take a guided tour of the site to learn about its history and importance in the ancient world.

  5. Day 2: Chunnambar Boat House
    30 minutes (11.2 km) from Arikamedu

    If you're looking for a fun and adventurous activity, head to Chunnambar Boat House. Take a boat ride along the backwaters of the Chunnambar River. You can also go kayaking, canoeing, or fishing.
