Exploring Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves

    Explore the ancient Edakkal Caves that are famous for its prehistoric rock etchings dating back to 6000 BCE. The cave art and the view from the top are breathtaking and worth the climb. The caves are open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, and it takes around 2 hours to cover the entire place.

  2. Day 2: Soochipara Waterfalls
    1 hour (23.7 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Visit the Soochipara Waterfalls, also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls. The waterfall cascades down from a height of 200 meters, surrounded by lush greenery, and offers an ideal spot for a refreshing swim. The falls are open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and require a moderate 10-15 minutes trek to reach the viewpoint.

  3. Day 3: Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (41.2 km) from Soochipara Waterfalls

    Explore the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna species, including the Indian bison, elephants, deer, and leopards. The sanctuary offers a jeep safari that takes around 2.5 hours to cover the entire area and provides a close-up view of the animals in their natural habitat. The sanctuary is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
