A 6-Day Nature-Filled Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 20 minutes (32.6 miles) from Calicut International Airport

    Start your trip off with a trek to the tallest peak in Wayanad, Chembra Peak. It's a strenuous hike, but the views at the top are well worth it. At the peak, you'll find a heart-shaped lake that is perfect for a refreshing dip. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks as the climb can be tiring.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam

    Head to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. You can take a boat ride on the lake, or hike up to the top of the dam for panoramic views of the surrounding area. Make sure to visit the nearby Banasura Hill Resort for a delicious lunch and some relaxation by the pool.

  3. Day 3: Edakkal Caves

    Explore the ancient Edakkal Caves, filled with carvings and paintings dating back over 8000 years.   4. Day 4: Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 10 minutes (31.2 miles) from Edakkal Caves

    Get up close and personal with Wayanad's wildlife at Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary to spot elephants, tigers, leopards, and other rare animals. The sanctuary also offers guided hiking and birdwatching tours for those who prefer a more leisurely pace.

  5. Day 5: Kuruva Island
    1 hour 20 minutes (31.2 miles) from Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary

    Escape to Kuruva Island, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the Kabini River. The island is home to a variety of rare plant and animal species, as well as serene walking paths and natural swimming pools. Pack a picnic and spend the day relaxing in nature.

  6. Day 6: Soochipara Falls
    1 hour 6 minutes (25.2 miles) from Kuruva Island

    End your trip with a visit to Soochipara Falls, a beautiful three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush forest. Take a dip in the refreshing pool at the bottom of the falls, or hike to the top for even more stunning views. Don't forget to bring your camera!
