Ooty: A 3-Day Itinerary for May 2023

  1. Day 1: Government Botanical Garden
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Ooty Bus Stand

    Start your trip to Ooty by visiting the Government Botanical Garden, which is spread over 55 acres of land. It is home to more than 650 species of plants and trees, including some rare species. The garden also has a fossil tree trunk that is believed to be 20 million years old. Spend your morning exploring the various sections of the garden, including the Italian Garden, Toda Hill, and the Conservatory. The garden also has a beautiful rose garden that is a must-visit.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    15 minutes (8.5 km) from Government Botanical Garden

    Start your day early and head to Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. The peak is located at an altitude of 8,650 feet and provides breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The peak also has a Telescope House where you can get a closer look at the surrounding area. After spending some time at the peak, head to the nearby tea estates to learn about the tea-making process and enjoy some fresh tea.

  3. Day 3: Ooty Lake
    20 minutes (4.4 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Spend your last day in Ooty by visiting the scenic Ooty Lake, which was built in 1824 by John Sullivan, the founder of Ooty. The lake is spread over 65 acres and is surrounded by eucalyptus trees and hills. You can take a boat ride on the lake or go for a leisurely walk around it. There are also several food stalls and souvenir shops near the lake. End your trip by watching the sunset at the lake and soaking in the beauty of Ooty.
