Start your day with an adventurous trek to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, for stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The trek takes around 3-4 hours to complete and requires a permit from the forest department. Along the way, you'll pass through lush green forests and a heart-shaped lake, known as the Chembra Heart Lake. The trek is moderately difficult and requires good physical fitness, but the views from the top are truly worth it.
After the trek, cool off at Soochipara Falls, also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfalls. This three-tiered waterfall is surrounded by dense forests and is a popular spot for swimming and picnicking. The falls are located in a scenic valley and require a short hike from the parking area. During the monsoon season, the falls are at their best, but swimming may not be allowed due to strong currents.
Start your day early with a wildlife safari in Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary to spot elephants, tigers, leopards, deer, and other animals. The sanctuary has a dense forest cover and is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. The safari takes around 2-3 hours and is conducted by trained guides. It is best to book in advance as the number of vehicles allowed inside the sanctuary is limited.
After the safari, head to Karlad Lake for some adventure activities such as zip-lining, kayaking, and bamboo rafting. The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and is a peaceful spot for relaxation. The activities are conducted by trained professionals and are safe for all age groups. You can also enjoy a picnic by the lakeside and soak in the serene atmosphere.
