Exploring Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (12.1 km) from Kalpetta

    Explore the prehistoric Edakkal Caves, located on Ambukutty Mala. The caves are famous for their ancient rock art, dating back to the Neolithic age. The hike to the caves is a bit steep, but the beautiful scenery along the way makes it worth it. You'll also get to see stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys from the caves.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 15 minutes (25.5 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Visit Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the peak takes around 3-4 hours and is not recommended for beginners. However, the stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys from the top make it worth the effort. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (45.1 km) from Chembra Peak

    Visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. The dam is surrounded by beautiful hills and forests, and the reservoir offers boating facilities. You can also enjoy a trek to the nearby Banasura Hill, which offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Don't miss the Banasura Dam viewpoint, which offers panoramic views of the dam and the surrounding hills.
