Three-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (14.7 km) from Kalpetta

    Explore the ancient Edakkal Caves which date back to the Neolithic era. The caves are situated on top of Ambukutty Mala and offer a breathtaking view of Wayanad. The caves are famous for their pictorial wall inscriptions which are believed to be of 6000 BC. The trek to the caves is a bit challenging but definitely worth it for the views and the historical significance.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (35 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Enjoy a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad, the Chembra Peak. The trek takes about 3-4 hours and is moderately difficult. At the top of the peak, you can witness the heart-shaped Chembra Lake which is a major attraction. The breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys from the peak is worth the climb.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 20 minutes (47.8 km) from Chembra Peak

    Visit the largest earthen dam in India, the Banasura Sagar Dam. The dam is built on the Banasura Lake and offers a scenic view of the surrounding mountains and hills. You can enjoy boating in the lake or take a trek to the nearby hills. The Banasura Hill Resort located near the dam is also a great place to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.
