2-Day Wayanad Itinerary for May 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Kalpetta town

    Edakkal Caves are a prehistoric site where cave paintings and petroglyphs have been discovered, dating back to around 6,000 BCE. The trek to the caves is a bit challenging, but the view from the top is worth it. Be sure to carry plenty of water and wear comfortable shoes.

  2. Day 1: Soochipara Waterfalls
    1 hour (20 miles) from Edakkal Caves

    Soochipara Waterfalls is a three-tiered waterfall cascading from a height of 200 meters. You can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool at the base of the falls. The surrounding rainforest adds to the charm of the place. Be aware that the path to the falls can be slippery and steep.

  3. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 30 minutes (35 miles) from Soochipara Waterfalls

    Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and the second-largest in Asia. The dam is set in a picturesque location surrounded by hills and forests. You can go boating or trekking in the nearby hills. There is also a park with a children's play area and an aquarium on site.

  4. Day 2: Pookode Lake
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    Pookode Lake is a natural freshwater lake surrounded by forests and hills. You can go boating, fishing, or take a leisurely stroll on the walking path around the lake. There is also a small aquarium and a children's park on site.
