3-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Banasura Sagar Dam
    30 minutes (13.9 km) from Kalpetta

    Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India and a popular tourist spot in Wayanad. The dam site offers a beautiful view of the Banasura hills and the picturesque backdrop of the Banasura lake. Visitors can enjoy boating, trekking, and camping activities here. The dam is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm every day except for Mondays.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 10 minutes (22.7 km) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad and a popular trekking destination. The trek to the peak takes around 3-4 hours and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills and forests. Visitors need to take permission from the forest department to trek here, and it is recommended to start early in the morning. The peak is open from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm every day.

  3. Day 3: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour 5 minutes (28.9 km) from Chembra Peak

    Edakkal Caves are a unique archaeological site in Wayanad, featuring ancient rock carvings and paintings. The caves are located on Ambukuthi hills and offer a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. Visitors need to trek for around 45 minutes to reach the caves, and it is recommended to carry enough water and wear comfortable shoes. The caves are open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm every day.
