4-Day Nature Itinerary for Wayanad

  1. Day 1: Trek to Chembra Peak

    Elevation: 2,100 meters

    Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the top takes approximately 3 hours, and it's a challenging climb. However, the panoramic view of the surrounding hills and valleys is breathtaking. The heart-shaped Chembra Lake is also located on the way to the peak. If you want to climb the peak, permission must be obtained from the Meppadi Forest Department.

  2. Day 2: Visit Meenmutty Falls
    1 hour 11 minutes (27 km) from Kalpetta
    Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

    Meenmutty Falls is a three-tiered waterfall located in the middle of the jungle, accessible only by trekking. It takes about 2 hours to reach the falls from the parking area. Once you reach the falls, you can take a dip in the cool waters and relax on the rocks. The scenery around the falls is stunning, and it's an excellent spot for taking photos.

  3. Day 3: Explore Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (32 km) from Kalpetta
    Timings: 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM

    Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary is home to tigers, leopards, elephants, and other wildlife. A jeep safari is the best way to explore the sanctuary, and it takes about 2 hours. A forest guide accompanies you during the safari, and they provide information about the animals and their habitat. The sanctuary is an excellent place for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

  4. Day 4: Visit Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 23 minutes (35 km) from Kalpetta
    Timings: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

    Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earthen dam in India and the second-largest in Asia. The dam is surrounded by lush green hills with a serene view of the Banasura Lake. Boating is a popular activity here, and you can rent a speedboat or a pedal boat and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake.
