5-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (0.5 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    Visit Kedarnath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The trek to the temple takes around 14 km from Gaurikund and is a beautiful experience. The temple opens at 6 AM and closes at 7 PM. Make sure to carry warm clothes and rain gear as the weather here is unpredictable.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    1.5 hours (7.5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Take a day trip to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake located at an altitude of 4,135 meters. The trek to the lake is challenging but the views of the mountains and glaciers are breathtaking. The trek starts from Kedarnath and takes around 6-7 hours to complete. Carry enough water and food for the trek. The best time to visit the lake is from June to September.

  3. Day 3: Shankaracharya Samadhi

The samadhi is located near Kedarnath Temple and can be reached by foot. The place is serene and is ideal for meditation. The best time to visit is early morning or late evening.

  4. Day 4: Triyuginarayan Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (37.9 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Take a day trip to Triyuginarayan Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. The temple is located in a beautiful village and has a natural hot water spring. The temple is open from 6 AM to 7 PM. Carry extra clothes for a dip in the hot water spring.

  5. Day 5: Gandhi Sarovar
    2 hours (8.9 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Take a day trip to Gandhi Sarovar, a glacial lake located at an altitude of 4,024 meters. The lake is named after Mahatma Gandhi and is a popular trekking destination.
