3-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    45 minutes (21.3 km) from Kuruva Island

    Explore the famous Edakkal Caves, which are believed to have been formed over 5000 years ago. Inside the cave, you will find ancient petroglyphs or rock carvings dating back to the Neolithic era. The trek to the caves is a bit challenging but worth the effort. Once you reach the caves, the stunning views of the surrounding hills will leave you mesmerized. Don't forget to carry water bottles and wear comfortable shoes for the trek.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 15 minutes (29.6 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Embark on a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad, Chembra Peak. The trek to the top takes around 3-4 hours but the panoramic view of the entire Wayanad district is breathtaking. Don't forget to take a guide along with you as the trek can be challenging. Carry water and snacks with you, and wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour (24.4 km) from Chembra Peak

    Visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. The dam is located in the midst of a beautiful landscape and offers a stunning view of the nearby hills. You can also opt for a speedboat ride on the dam's backwaters. Don't forget to take a camera with you to capture the scenic views.

If you have an extra day, you can visit the Kuruva Island, a beautiful uninhabited island situated on the Kabini river. The island is known for its rich flora and fauna. You can also visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary for an exciting jungle safari.
