Welcome to Kedarnath! Nestled in the Himalayas, Kedarnath is a sacred town for Hindus. Upon arriving at Kedarnath Helipad, take a 10-minute walk to your hotel. Today, take it easy and acclimatize to the altitude. You can explore the nearby markets and try local delicacies such as Kachmauli and Bal Mithai.
The Kedarnath Temple is the main attraction in Kedarnath and is open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is believed to have been built by the Pandavas. After visiting the temple, take a short walk to the Bhairav Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, a fierce form of Lord Shiva. The temple is open from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. You can also take a trek to Vasuki Tal Lake, which is at a distance of 6.5 miles from Kedarnath.
Today, visit Gaurikund, which is believed to be the place where Goddess Parvati meditated to win the heart of Lord Shiva. From Gaurikund, you can take a 6 km trek to Kedarnath. On the way back, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, which is where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
On your last day in Kedarnath, visit Sonprayag, which is the confluence of Mandakini and Songanga rivers. The place is considered to be very holy and is believed to wash away all sins. From there, head to Guptkashi, which is a beautiful town with many temples. You can visit the Vishwanath Temple, Ardhnareshwar Temple and Manikarnika Kund.
If you have an extra day, you can visit the Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. You can also try out adventure activities such as trekking and camping in the nearby hills. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry comfortable shoes, warm clothes, and a raincoat. It is also advisable to carry medicines for altitude sickness.
