4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Munnar and Athirapally in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Munnar

    Welcome to Munnar, a stunning hill station in Kerala known for its tea estates and picturesque landscapes. After arriving at Cochin International Airport, drive to Munnar and check into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and get acclimatized to the refreshing weather. You can also visit the local markets to buy some tea and spices.

  2. Day 2: Munnar Sightseeing
    15 minutes (3.5 miles) from your hotel

    Start the day with a visit to the Tea Museum, which showcases the evolution of tea plantations in Munnar. Next, visit the Mattupetty Dam, a popular picnic spot with boating facilities. Then, head to the Echo Point to experience the natural echo phenomenon. In the afternoon, visit the Kundala Lake, followed by a visit to the Top Station, which offers a panoramic view of the Western Ghats. Return to your hotel and rest for the night.

  3. Day 3: Munnar to Athirapally
    4 hours 30 minutes (87 miles) from your hotel

    Check out of your hotel and drive to Athirapally, a scenic waterfall located on the Chalakudy River. En route, visit the Valara Waterfalls and the Cheeyappara Waterfalls. After reaching Athirapally, check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure.

  4. Day 4: Athirapally Sightseeing and Departure
    10 minutes (3.5 miles) from your hotel

    Start the day by visiting the Athirapally Waterfalls, one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala. Then, head to the Vazhachal Waterfalls, located nearby. Both waterfalls are surrounded by lush green forests, making for a beautiful sight. After spending time at the waterfalls, check out of your hotel and drive back to Cochin International Airport to catch your flight back home.
