3-Day Wayanad Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour 10 minutes (37.7 km) from Wayanad

    In the morning, visit the ancient Edakkal Caves, famous for its ancient petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic era. A 20-minute trek uphill is needed to reach the entrance of the cave. Here, you will get to witness ancient inscriptions on the walls of the cave. Afternoon, visit the nearby Phantom Rock, a naturally formed skull-shaped rock. The rock has a small trek that offers beautiful views of the valley. In the evening, visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum, the perfect place to learn about the history and culture of the Wayanad region.

  2. Day 2: Soochipara Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (46.3 km) from Wayanad

    On the second day, visit the enchanting Soochipara Falls. The waterfall has a three-tiered drop, surrounded by lush greenery. The natural pool at the base of the waterfall is perfect for swimming. In the afternoon, visit the Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake surrounded by forests. Here, you can enjoy boating, pedal boating, and other activities. In the evening, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, a popular tourist spot known for its scenic views and speed boating.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (59.6 km) from Wayanad

    On the final day, visit the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is surrounded by hills and forests, offering a serene and peaceful ambiance. Afterward, visit the Kuruva Island, a beautiful island located in the middle of the Kabini river. The island has a dense forest cover and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. In the evening, visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, famous for its elephant sightings and Jeep safaris.
